It’s still early days but some reputations are already in need of urgent repairs as Africa’s finest football teams ‒ and players ‒ battle it out in Egypt. In one of this weekend’s show-piece matches, the hosts face Uganda on 30 June. Cameroon and Ghana clash in another humdinger on 29 June, the day after South Africa’s match against their Namibian neighbours. Senegal and Algeria are also likely to provide high-voltage football on 27 June.
Cricket: ICC World Cup from 27 June to 4 July on SuperSport 2 (202) at 11:00
Three of the spiciest fixtures of the tournament in England are due to be decided over the next few days. New Zealand play Australia on 29 June, England face India the next day and England take on New Zealand on 3 July. The match between South Africa and Sri Lanka on 28 June could be a sparkler too. And there won’t be a dull moment when the always-explosive Windies play India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan ‒ every match broadcast live on SuperSport.

Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes team have a special assignment at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg this weekend. After building up an impressive lead in the 2019 championship, they will be determined to wipe out memories of last year’s Austrian GP. Hamilton retired on the 63rd of the 71 laps that day after Valtteri Bottas had dropped out on the 14th. Max Verstappen won and Kimi Räikönnen and Sebastian Vettel finished second and third. It may be a very different story in the 306.45km race on Sunday.
Rugby: Vodacom Super Rugby semi-finals on 29 June on SuperSport 1 (201) at 01:00 and 09:00
There are no clear-cut favourites and no firm underdogs as “the last four standing” prepare to clash on the penultimate weekend of the 2019 competition. Argentina’s Jaguares take on the Australian Brumbies in Buenos Aires long before dawn (SA time) on Saturday and in New Zealand, the Hurricanes face Crusaders, champions for the past two years and nine times in 23 seasons. The rugby will be riveting, even though the race towards next week’s final began more than fourth months ago.
