They say no news is good news, but for fans of American soapie The Bold And The Beautiful no news makes them anxious. Since the much-loved soapie was unceremoniously dumped by SABC3 in March, there was a huge outcry from Bold fans who are missing the antics of Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and the Forrester fashion family. Back then the SABC cited that it's part of their turnaround strategy to make money and that Bold is expensive to air. And the soapie didn't show any growth, which is understandable as the soapie airs on a channel not picked up all over South Africa. Back in the good old days when the SABC still had money, the glitzy soap aired on SABC1, a channel with the biggest footprint in South Africa, and then poof, it was shuffled to SABC3.
NEW HOPE
Fans were hoping e.tv would pick up the soapie, as it picked up Days Of Our Lives when it was also dumped from SABC, but the reality is it might not happen at all. According to a reliable insider at e.tv it all boils down to moolah. "You have to admit the series is not cheap," the insider told The TV Daddy. "It is all about the money. The show is sold in US dollars and if you translate that into South African Rand, you get quite a high figure. So no, it's not going to happen at all."
