During the show there were various highlights. The Maak My Famous Top 10 performed together again and entertained the audience and viewers with a medley of songs. And what would the Maak My Famous Final be without Emo Adams performing with the Top 4? The audience went crazy when they performed their version of ‘Wake me up before you go-go’.
Early in the show, one of the Maak My Famous Top 48, André van der Walt, made an appearance again. Viewers voted for one of the Top 48 to perform at the final again, and André received the most votes.
The guest artists didn’t hold back, with Karen Zoid performing her hit, ‘As Musiek begin speel’, followed by Belinda Davids performing ‘One moment in time’. Kurt Darren also entertained the audience with a medley of his hits.
The public also had the opportunity to vote for their favourite contestant in the Top 4. With more than 1,4 votes, it was a difficult decision, but Emo announced Megan Danner as the first contestant in the Top 3. To celebrate this, she sang ‘You shook me all night long’.
Cheswyn Ruiters was the second person to reach the Top 3. He spoiled the audience with ‘When a man loves a woman’. And the last contestant in the Top 3 – Bernice West! She performed ‘Eye of the tiger’.
As always, Emo Adams had a few surprises up his sleeve. He decided to not only give the winner a year contract from All Star Management, but for the rest of the Top 4 as well. This includes SA Ensemble, who also got to meet the man who entered them in the competition, Chris van Niekerk, for the first time.
And, in true Oprah style, the Top 10 contestants were each surprised with R10 000 cash, sponsored by Toyota. The runner up also receives R50 000 in cash.
After all the excitement, it was time to announce who would fill the spots in the Top 2. Karen Meiring, M-Net Director: kykNET Channels announced Bernice West and Cheswyn Ruiters as the Maak My Famous Top 2. In a very emotional moment, Emo had another surprise – he is taking both on tour with him. And without hesitating a second, Cheswyn was announced as the winner of Maak My Famous!
