Lucifer returns with a develish-smile and hellish-charm

The Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar, is back to wreak more havoc on Earth in season 4 of series Lucifer. Unlike the previous seasons, the new season was made available in full - all 10 episodes at once - on streaming service Netflix on Wednesday 8 May.
PEACE ON EARTH
The in the last few minutes of season 3, Luci's partner in crime and his big Earthly crush Detective Chloe Decker saw his real face - the devil face. And then the series ended. Poof. Gone. Back to hell as the series was canceled. However, the outcry from fans was so huge that Netflix decided to pick it up for the 4th season. And it worked. Lucifer, sulking over the loss over his beloved `Detective, had us listening to `his rendition of alt-rockers Radiohead's song Creep - quite fitting for the master of hell. But when the Detective returns in episode 1, it was `Luci who was caught off guard, only uttering " What the f****" (cue series intro).

THE DEVIL HIMSELF
In an interview with collider.com the hunky Tom Ellis, who plays Lucifer added his voice to those tense moments when the show was canceled by US broadcaster Fox. "For about 36 hours, I was convinced that would be it. Then, I had a call. Basically, the moment that it was announced on social media that the show was canceled, was the moment I started to feel better about everything because, within an hour of that announcement, my phone had just gone absolutely crazy. The outpouring from everywhere was really overwhelming, but at that point, I was still crushed and gutted. Then, the next day, because of that outpouring, I got a call from Warner Bros. saying that it hadn’t gone unnoticed and that they were going to try to find a new home for it. In that period of time, I encouraged people to keep making noise because it seemed to have at least made a conversation started. Once there was a conversation, there was still hope, even though I knew that the chances of it being picked up were really slim. I think that the constant knocking on the door from the fans, Netflix was subsequently as overwhelmed and happy to see the response, and it felt like a good fit for them to have us. When eventually it was picked up, I was obviously thrilled, but I was more thrilled for the fans than anybody because they just really, really wanted it."

SPOILER ALERT! GUESS WHO RETURNS FROM THE GARDEN OF EDEN?
It was bound to happen. In all the mythology of the devil and his wickedness, it was a refreshing surprise to see the first sinner of mankind in the flesh - Eve. Says Tom, "It’s always lovely to bring new characters in and to have a new dynamic, especially when you’re doing something for a long time. Inbar came in, and she had so many ideas about it. We talked about what their past was, and we fleshed it out with some real feelings. To me, that means that when we actually do the scenes, we can do what I love doing, which is to just go and play. And she’s exactly of that same school of thought, so we had quite a bit of fun, exploring that relationship with Eve."

MORE HELLISH-FUN?
We demand a season 5. There should be one. But it's up to Netflix to decide yes or no. "I feel like we haven’t finished telling our story yet, without giving too many spoilers away. With any show, you could ultimately finish, at the end of any season, and you’re either left with a massive cliffhanger and people are left unsatisfied, or you get the opportunity to tell your story until the end. I think that we would all love to come back and do a Season 5. We’ll just have to see what Netflix says," says Tom.
